Sano Kyoko could not help bursting into tears as she was reluctant to say good-bye to her school at the Blue Pool Road of Hong Kong Island, where she had worked hard on her lessons for almost three years.

"I don't want to go back to Japan, because I like Hong Kong much better," Sano told her English teacher. She was one of the 136 Japanese students who were graduated from the Primary Section of Hong Kong Japanese School, and was deeply impressed by the traditional graduation ceremony given by headmaster Imai Tadao. This was the 35th of the kinds since the school was founded 40 years ago.
