Article: Norway Heads U.N. Sanctions Committee on Iraq

The United Nations Security Council had named Norway to head the United Nations sanctions committee on Iraq from 2001-2002, Kishore Mahbubani, Singapore's ambassador to the U.N. said on Thursday.

The Netherlands headed the U.N. sanctions committee on Iraq during its two-year term on the council, which ended last week.

Norway is one of the five new rotating members of the 15-member Security Council beginning two-year terms, along with Ireland, Colombia, Mauritius and Singapore.
