Article: Philippine Police Dispersing Rallyists Near Presidential Palace

Philippine military and police force began dispersing large crowds of supporters of jailed former President Joseph Estrada rallying near the Presidential Palace.

Government soldiers and riot policemen in full battle gear swung batons and fired volleys of shots into the air to drive the rallyists away from the Presidential Palace.

Some of the rallyists first retaliated with rocks and bottles, and then torched a broadcasting vehicle of the ABS-CBN news channel.

Policemen are now also said to be at the downtown Edsa Shrine " cleaning up" the area by ordering Estrada supporters camped out there to leave the place immediately.
