Article: Over 1,700 Contracts Shelved by U.N. Sanctions Committee: Iraq

The United Nations Sanctions Committee has put on hold 1,710 contracts Iraq signed with other countries under the U.N. oil-for- food program since 1996, the official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported Thursday.

Of the total blocked contracts with a value of 3.6 billion U.S. dollars, 1,161 contracts were for humanitarian supplies and 549 contracts for Iraq's oil industry spare parts and equipment, INA said.
