Article: Spain Confirms New Swine Fever Case

A new swine fever case was discovered Thursday in Catalonia, an autonomous community in northeastern Spain, press reports here said Friday.

Catalonia's Agriculture Department reported Thursday it is the sixth case on a farm in Penelles, Lerida province. It was confirmed through Catalonian government laboratory analysis.

According to figures from the Farmer and Rancher Organizations Coordination (COAG), the epizootic has caused 5.5 million U.S. dollars of losses to farmers.
