Article: Wall Street Stocks Rally After Heavy Losses

Wall Street stocks rallied Wednesday on investors' buying after the heavy losses in last three sessions, supported by upbeat news from listed companies including Bristol-Mayers and Texaco.

The Dow Jones industrial average surged 164.55 points, or 1.61 percent, to 10,405.67, after falling 368.88 points in last three sessions.

Broader stock indicators were up. The technology heavy Nasdaq composite index jumped 25.08 points, or 1.28 percent, to 1,984.32,following a drop of 87.35 points during previous three sessions. The Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 18.84 points, or 1.6 percent, to 1,190.49, after the 43.37-point losses in last three trading days.
