Article: Philippine Air Force Bombards Abu Sayyaf Lairs

The Philippine Air Force launchedair strikes against the Abu Sayyaf lairs in the south as the military pressed its offensive against the group which is still holding 18 hostage, a military report said Saturday.

A pair of OV-10 light bombers and two 520-MG attack helicopterscarried out the air strikes to provide close air support to Army troops tracking down the bandit group in the island province of Basilan.

There was no immediate report o casualties.

Two Americans are still being held along with 16 Filipinos by the Abu Sayyaf, which allegedly has links with exiled Saudi billionaire
