Philippines' opposition senators Monday renewed their call for the government to intensify its campaign against the extremist Abu Sayyaf group following United States-led military attacks against Afghanistan.

"President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo should show the public we have contingency plans and are ready to face all repercussions from terrorist invasion so as not to create panic among the public," the Philippine Daily Inquirer online news quoted Senate minorityleader Aquilino Pimentel as saying.
