Article: Philippine Muslim Leader to Face Trial Once Deported From Malaysia

Former Governor of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Nur Misuari will face trial once he was deported by Malaysian authorities, Presidential Palace spokesman Rigoberto Tiglao said Thursday.

Misuari, cofounder of the largest Muslim group Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) will be immediately deported to the Philippines after Malaysian authorities finish their own investigation, Tiglao told reporters.

"The Malaysians believe that he (Misuari) had violated their internal security act," he said, adding that Misuari will have to face trial when deported to the Philippines for the recent attack in the southern island of Jolo where at least 18 soldiers were killed.
