SINGAPORE, December 27 (Xinhua) -- The Singapore dollar plungedto its 11-year low against its U.S. counterpart Wednesday, due to Japanese yen's continuing slide against the greenback over the past few sessions.

At the end of local trading session Wednesday, the U.S. dollars was traded at 1.8445 Singapore dollars -- the highest level in 11 years, -- up from 1.8370 in late Singapore trade Monday.

Dealers said that the U.S. dollar opened stronger against the local currency after it poked through the 131 yen mark early in Tokyo when yen was hitting its 38-month low against the greenback.
