The large sign outside the Sunnyside building reads "Smith
Funeral Home."
But the hum of a vacuum cleaner, the laughter of a baby and the
warmth of a fireplace give visitors a sense of home and family.
Carolyn Smith, an apprentice funeral director at Sunnyside's
Smith Funeral Home explained: "People think in a funeral service,
that a funeral director stands here with a suit on greeting you, and
that's all we do. But, we all help each other. Our job is our life."
Smith owns Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside and Grandview with her
husband, Greg Smith, a licensed funeral director.
