HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) - In the past month, the Confederated
Tribes of Warm Springs have bought 202 acres adjacent to a proposed
casino site here, a move the tribes' lawyer said signals a
commitment to build the facility.
Dennis Karnopp, the tribes' Bend-based lawyer, said the $1.5
million in land purchases shows "a fairly strong indication of
commitment" to build a casino on trust land just east of Hood River.
