Starting Wednesday, outdoor burning is banned in unincorporated Yakima County.

The ban follows similar restrictions approved earlier on state and federal lands, such as the Wenatchee National Forest. Outdoor burning has been banned within the city of Yakima for years.

Yakima County commissioners approved their ban citing extreme fire danger caused by an unusually dry spring.
