Good nutrition begins at home and for some families that includes
making their own baby food. To make a safe, good quality baby food,
there are several preparation guidelines to keep in mind.
Q. Will I need special equipment if I make my own baby food?
A. No, however, you may want to designate certain cooking
utensils and food containers for baby preparation only. This will
help you remember which items need extra cleaning. All food
preparation items should be cleaned in a dishwasher and rinsed again
with boiling water. (And, of course, the preparer's hands and the
cooking area should always be scrubbed with hot, soapy water and
