SUNNYSIDE - Mountain States Construction Co. is appealing a
citation from the state Department of Labor and Industries that
states the company didn't comply with safety regulations.
The department issued the citation after investigating a Feb. 7
accident in which one worker was electrocuted and another injured.
The $1,350 fine was for failing to maintain a clearance of 10
feet from an energized electrical line.
Company spokesman Joe Will said Mountain State took numerous
safety and education precautions and that the accident was out of
its control.
In fact, on the morning of the accident the company had an all-
employee safety meeting during which electrical safety was
discussed, Will said.
