We didn't really mean for it to wind up so parochial, but after
study and conversation with the candidates we're opting for two men
with local roots for the two open, contested seats on the state
Supreme Court.
They are:
Jeff Sullivan for Position 2. The 56-year-old Yakima native has
served as Yakima County's elected prosecutor for 26 years. He
graduated from Marquette High School, Gonzaga University and
Gonzaga's Law School.
His opponent is Susan J. Owens, 51, of Forks, a District Court
judge for western Clallam County for 19 years, who also works part
time as chief judge of the Lower Elwha S'Klallam Tribal Court.
Tom Chambers of Seattle for Position 9. He owns a law practice
