Yakima County's unemployment rate decreased slightly in the month of September from a year ago, while Washington state has seen its largest decrease for the month of September in 20 years.

The jobless rate in the county last month was 6.3 percent, down from 6.9 percent a year ago and from 8.8 percent in August, according to figures released Tuesday by the state Employment Security Department.
