Article: Hair To Dye For -- Teens shell out the bucks to change hair color

Bleaching, blonding, highlighting and streaking is the latest rage with teen hair color, and no one is having a problem handing over the greenbacks to do it.

"Teens are coloring their hair to be different; it's a cheap form of glamorizing," said Brian Grene of The Sharper Image Tanning and Styling Salon.

In the two years Grene has been a stylist there, he's seen a big increase in the number of teens requesting a hair color change.

About half of the clientele who come in to the shop are teen- agers, he says. Anyone from age 13 and up comes in for color treatment; he's even had a few 10-year-olds wanting a dye job. Of course, the younger people need parental permission to ...
