Article: Ruth Reukauf annouced her candidacy for Yakima County District Court judgeship

The field for a Yakima County District Court judgeship grew to three Wednesday as Court Commissioner Ruth Reukauf announced her candidacy.

Reukauf, 35, joins a field that also includes Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Sherman and Myrna Contreras, an attorney in private practice who has served as judge pro tem in District Court.

The three candidates are vying for the seat being vacated by retiring Judge Randall Marquis.

With a crowd of about a dozen supporters gathered at the Jewett Center at the Yakima Area Arboretum, Reukauf said she is the best- qualified candidate because of her current role as a District Court commissioner.
