It's not unusual to have yet another plan for cleaning up the Yakima River, but let's hope the latest required version is long on action and success in getting the job done. Study after study over the years has consistently reached the conclusion that the Yakima River is one of the most polluted in the state.

Now a state Department of Ecology plan to clean up the most- polluted stretch of the Yakima River sets a 15-year schedule for reducing agricultural runoff.
