Defeated in the three-way primary race for a Yakima County
District Court bench seat, Myrna Contreras has thrown her support
behind current court Commissioner Ruth Reukauf.
"Essentially, she's been a District Court judge for three years,
just without the title," Contreras said at a Monday news conference
announcing her support for Reukauf.
Contreras finished third in the primary, sending Reukauf and
Yakima County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Sherman to a
showdown in November's general election.
Sherman garnered 14,256 votes in the primary, or about 52
percent. Reukauf captured 8,497 votes for about 31 percent.
Contreras, a Yakima attorney, received 4,561 votes, or about 16
percent.
