Article: Mellow out! -- Folklife Festival shows its softer side this year

With each year, it seems, the annual Folklife Festival gets a little better at defining itself.

"The whole festival has been getting more organized," said Andy Granitto, Folklife secretary and curator of exhibits and programs at the Yakima Valley Museum, where Folklife is held. "This year, we were booked solid by May. Normally, we don't have all our slots filled until mid-June.

"It makes it a lot easier to organize the festival because we know who we're going to have much earlier." The 1998 Yakima Folklife Festival is Friday through Sunday in Franklin Park and the Yakima Valley Museum, 2105 Tieton Drive, and Grant's Brewery Pub, 32 N. Front St.
