KENNEWICK (AP) - Gary Edelen admits he's a towering inferno of
insanity.
Anyone who makes his living calling himself "The Human Torch"
would have to be a little nuts, wouldn't they? "Yeah, OK. Maybe I'm
just a little bit crazy," Edelen says with a smirk. "But the one
thing I'm not in this business is careless or stupid." There you
have it, straight from the mouth of the former Hollywood stuntman
who gets an adrenaline rush every time he douses his body with
flammable liquid adhesive - the same sort of adhesive used for
laying linoleum - then sets himself on fire.
He gets a thrill from seeing just how long he can burn before the
flames penetrate the fire-retardant protective gear he wears ...
