MORGANTOWN - For those who may believe that West Virginia's football season all but ended with a two-game losing streak in the first month of play, here's a little dose of reality:

Not only has it not ended, it really hasn't started. For all practical purposes, kickoff for the real season opener isn't until noon on Saturday.

That's when Rutgers visits Mountaineer Field for West Virginia's Big East Conference opener.

"The goal in this program will always be the Big East championship," West Virginia coach Bill Stewart said Sunday. "That's what we strive for. That's what we live for. And now it's time to get out there and put our helmets on and our mouthpieces in and try to go after it. ...
