The 50th anniversary of Watt Powell Park, which opened to
professional baseball on April 28, 1949, will be commemorated as
part
of the Alley Cats' home opener on Friday April 16.
The Alley Cats, in fact, will devote the season to the
anniversary, bringing back a variety of players and other baseball-
related dignitaries who have played a part in the ballpark's 50-
year
history of professional and amateur play.
The team's program and yearbook will bear the logos of the four
primary teams that have occupied the park - the Senators, Charlies,
Wheelers and Alley Cats. The club also will sell commemorative T-
shirts and other souvenirs.
