The Charleston Alley Cats, now an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, opened their exhibition season Thursday with an 8-5 victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A Midwest League in Baseball City, Fla.

The Alley Cats, who totaled 12 hits, used back-to-back RBI singles by Griffin Moore and Corey Hart to take the lead in the sixth inning.
