The Charleston Alley Cats, now an affiliate of the Kansas City
Royals, opened their exhibition season Thursday with an 8-5 victory
over the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A Midwest League in
Baseball City, Fla.
The Alley Cats, who totaled 12 hits, used back-to-back RBI
singles
by Griffin Moore and Corey Hart to take the lead in the sixth
inning.
Chris George, the Royals' No. 1 draft pick in 1998, started and
pitched two innings.
The Alley Cats will play an intrasquad game today and will face
the Macon Braves Saturday.
