It was nearly midnight when Alley Cat pitchers surrendered their
first earned runs of the long evening.
The streak ended in the 14th inning as three walks and Luis
Gonzalez' solid single up the middle brought home two runs to give
the Columbus RedStixx a 7-5 victory over the Alley Cats at Watt
Powell Park.
Of the original 1,000 fans in attendance on a cool, breezy night,
several hundred remained for the final out of the four-hour, 24-
minute game.
If nothing else, the Alley Cats rescued starter Corey Ammons from
what looked like his first loss of the season. Ammons, who entered
the game with a 5-0 record and a 1.14 earned run average, allowed a
