Mike Curry's bunt, a surprise offering that died 20 feet in front
of the plate, typified the Alley Cats' resourceful style of offense
Monday night.
It also brought an important run home from third base and
contributed to a five-run fourth-inning rally.
In addition to the bunt, the Alley Cats used a couple of stolen
bases, Henry Calderon's two-run homer and some bases on balls to
defeat the Cape Fear Crocs 8-4 on a rainy night at Watt Powell Park.
After much of the game was played in a drizzle, the umpires
stopped play with the Crocs batting in the sixth inning and,
