CAPE FEAR, N.C. - The Alley Cats and Sally League earned run
average leader Edwin Gonzalez were hammered 11-2 by the Cape Fear
Crocs Tuesday night.
Gonzalez came into the game with a 1.76 earned run average, but
allowed seven runs in three innings of work.
The Crocs (30-32) struck in the first inning with a two-out,
three-run home run from first baseman Jim Na. Cape Fear added
another two-out homer in the third, a two-run shot from Wilkin Ruan,
making it 5-0. Cape Fear tacked on two more in the third to build a
7-0 lead.
Gonzalez was pulled after three innings, with his ERA jumping to
2.24. Cats reliever Matt Burch came in and stopped the Croc offense,
permitting only one hit in three ...
