FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Charleston left-hander Jeremy Affeldt turned
in one of his best performances of the season, firing a complete-game
six-hitter as the Alley Cats beat Cape Fear 3-1 in the opening game
of a South Atlantic League doubleheader Monday night.
In the nightcap, the Crocs used the longball to come back and
defeat the Alley Cats 4-2.
Charleston (28-33), which occupies last place in the Sally
League's four-team Northern Division, is three games behind division-
leaders Hagerstown (Md.) and Cape Fear (31-30), which are virtually
tied for the top spot. The Cats only have eight games remaining in
the regular season.
