Morgantown millionaire John Raese has offered to buy the historic
Municipal Auditorium from the city of Charleston.
City officials, including Mayor Jay Goldman, have discussed
selling the 60-year-old building for the past several months.
Kanawha County officials have offered to take over the building and
pay for much-needed, short-term repairs.
Goldman said last month that a private individual had offered to
buy the Municipal Auditorium. Several local officials, who did not
want to be named, said that Raese was the prospective buyer.
As he has before, the mayor refused Tuesday to name the
prospective buyer.
