NEW YORK - Marshall quarterback Chad Pennington, who leads the
nation with 37 touchdown passes, is among five players invited to
the Downtown Athletic Club for Saturday's Heisman Trophy ceremonies.
The other finalists are Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton,
Purdue quarterback Drew Brees, Virginia Tech freshman quarterback
Michael Vick and Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne.
"I'm surprised, but I'm honored to be mentioned with those guys,"
Pennington said. "Ron Dayne's had a great season. He's broken the
[NCAA career] rushing record. It's going to be tough to beat him."
Being a finalist for the Heisman Trophy is not something that has
