Article: Flippo should stay in jail, judge says

FAYETTEVILLE - Even if no one had ever discovered a briefcase with pictures the Rev. James Flippo had taken of his friend, jurors would still have concluded that there was enough evidence to find Flippo guilty of the murder of his wife, a circuit judge concluded Friday.

The Nitro minister appealed his guilty verdict all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and in 1999, the high court sent the case back to Fayette County Circuit Court because Judge John Hatcher had denied a defense motion to suppress evidence police obtained from Flippo's briefcase without a warrant.
