Multi-CAP's bankruptcy lawyer on Thursday encouraged former
employees to ask their doctors for more time to pay medical bills
left after their health insurance benefits lapsed.
At a creditors' meeting in bankruptcy court on Thursday, Multi-
CAP lawyer William Booker said he could not promise the anti-
poverty agency's former employees they would get money for benefits
they never got to use.
But Booker encouraged the workers to speak to their doctors and
other health-care providers trying to collect payments from
employees who thought they were insured until earlier this year.
In April, employees began to realize that Multi-CAP was not
