PARKERSBURG - Marshall Burdette, who guided Parkersburg High School's football team to a 14-0 season and the Class AAA state championship, has been named West Virginia High School Coach of the Year. In one of the closest votes in the history of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association, Burdette edged out last year's winner, Alan Fiddler, who led Moorefield High School to its fourth straight Class A state football title.
