When he played high school baseball in New England four years
ago, Keith Reed's baseball potential caught the attention of just
one college: Providence. Reed therefore signed with the Friars and,
by his junior season, had developed into the Big East Player of the
Year, a slugging outfielder who batted .398 with 17 home runs and 80
RBIs in a single season. The Baltimore Orioles selected him in the
first round - the 23rd overall pick - of last June's amateur draft.
He's attracting plenty of attention now. The 6-foot-4, 209-pound
right fielder doubled in the sixth and seventh innings Wednesday
night to help the Delmarva Shorebirds to a 12-4 drubbing of the
Alley ...
