The Charleston Alley Cats were in a giving mood Thursday, a day
after Delmarva pitcher Mike Paradis' 22nd birthday. The Alley Cats
committed five errors that led to five unearned Shorebird runs as
Delmarva cruised to an 8-1 win before a crowd 4,617 - mostly
elementary school children who attended the game free of charge on
"Say No To Drugs and Tobacco Day" at Watt Powell Park.
Paradis didn't need the Alley Cats' gifts. He limited Charleston
to just two hits and no runs in six innings. It was the best outing
of the season for the former Clemson pitcher who was a Baltimore
Orioles first-round draft pick last season.
