Seeing his teammate caught in a rundown between first and second,
Jacob Baker saw the opportunity to do something about the Alley
Cats' dastardly eight-game losing streak. And so Baker scurried
down from third base in the seventh inning and slid beneath the tag
of Hickory catcher J.R. House for a steal of home that broke a 6-6
tie.
From there, the Alley Cats preserved their precious one-run lead
for a 7-6 victory that ended the losing streak Wednesday night at
Watt Powell Park.
"I just barely got under the tag," said Baker.
In reality, a botched bunt play set up Baker's steal of home.
"It was something we screwed up," said Alley Cat manager Joe
