WANA - A Morgantown man died Wednesday in a fall at the
Blacksville No. 2 coal mine in Monongalia County, the second West
Virginia miner to die on the job this week. Dan Dalton, 23, was an
employee of Boyce Graybeal & Sayre Inc. of Slab Fork in Raleigh
County.
The contracting company has been upgrading the preparation plant
at the mine near Wana, just a few miles from the Pennsylvania state
line.
Warren Boyce, president of the company, said the victim fell into
a tank while installing a piece of machinery.
It is the firm's first fatality, Boyce said.
"We've had a good safety record," he said. "This is a real
unusual accident. We've never had anything like it."
