Article: Kids usually make good food choices

Some scenarios are difficult to imagine.

Like giving sixth-graders a choice of foods at school lunchtime, then observing they will actually select and eat a variety of nutritious items such as vegetables and grains rather than simply load up on hamburgers. Or an 8-year-old cooking a risotto dish on his own.

Yet both scenarios are true life and bear out what some parents might find hard to believe: Kids are capable of making reasonable food choices.
