BIG UGLY - This is the land of cheap comedy. Rex Toney certainly
understands.
He laughs with the out-of-state credit card people when he has to
provide his address. Double-entendre newspaper headlines, too, are
readymade for this southern Lincoln County community. Big Ugly
headlines have found Jay Leno's desk more than once.
"Big Ugly man shot in Logan bar," the March 13 Gazette reported.
About 15 years back, Toney recalls, another newspaper headline
made the rounds. "Big Ugly woman found dead," it said. People got a
kick out of that one too.
If you weren't familiar with the situation, it would be funny,
Toney said. But "it wasn't a joke to those kids."
