The United Mine Workers won a bargaining victory last week when
Webnic Construction Services agreed to award union representation to
more than 20 employees working at Consolidation Coal Co.'s
Blacksville No. 2 mine west of Morgantown and other sites in West
Virginia. UMW President Cecil E. Roberts said: "We are proud to
welcome these highly skilled construction workers as new members of
our growing union."
Roberts praised District 31 President Richard Eddy and nearby
union locals for helping in the campaign to win union representation
for workers employed by Webnic, based in Fairmont, and by BGS
(Boyce, Graybeal & Sayre) Construction Inc., based in Beckley.
