Raleigh contractor cited in fatal fall at mine
MORGANTOWN - A Raleigh County firm which lost a worker in a fatal
fall at the Blacksville No. 2 mine last week has been cited for
allowing the man to work near unshielded, moving machine parts. Dan
Dalton, 23, of Morgantown, an employee of Boyce Graybeal & Sayre
Inc. of Slab Fork, fell into a tank Aug. 16 while installing
equipment at the preparation plant near Wana.
A federal investigation into the accident is continuing, but the
state Office of Miners Health, Safety and Training found at least
one violation while reviewing the accident.
