Cape Fear stole bases and a victory Sunday against the Charleston
Alley Cats at Watt Powell Park Sunday. The Crocs (11-20) stole six
bases on the afternoon to help propel them to a 5-3 win over the
Alley Cats. Four of the steals came off starter Carlos Pichardo.
"What hurt us most was not being able to stop their running
game," said Alley Cats manager Joe Szekely. "That hurts because
singles turn into doubles. It puts more pressure on your pitchers
and defense."
Catcher James McAuley was able to gun down two baserunners on
steal attempts at second. Also, right fielder Donny Ross and third
baseman Wilkins Mercado got two runners out at the plate to keep the
Cats (14-17) ...
