IT'S sad to see that John Smith's memory is being used to bash
the
Labour party (Labour accused of forgetting Smith, News, March 21)
and
all because the party has no official plans to mark the fifth
anniversary of his death.
I'm proud to say that I worked for John Smith when he was Labour
party leader. And I'm equally proud to be able to say that I am a
member of a party that has not forgotten John Smith's politics or
John Smith the man.
John's legacy is alive and well. Anyone with any doubts about
that need only look at the redistributive ethos of Gordon Brown's
budget; the introduction of the minimum wage and the radical nature
of the government's land reform plans, including the creation ...
