DIET pills which many doctors have stopped prescribing because of a wide range of side effects are readily available from commercial slimming clinics, Scotland On Sunday can reveal.

National Slimming Centres clinics in Glasgow and Edinburgh last week prescribed Duromine, a brand name appetite suppressant, to a reporter making his first visit in each case.
