Restrictions on the sale of wine on Easter Sunday continue to irk
wineries in the Nelson region.
They can't see why they should have to apply for a special
licence to sell bottles of wine to take off the premises on what is
one of their busiest days of the year.
They hope lobbying by the wine industry will persuade the
Government to lift the restrictions.
A law change last year means that on Easter Sunday, wineries can
only sell wine with meals, and not bottles of wine to take away.
Last-minute exemptions were granted just before Easter last year
through the New Zealand Wine Institute, but this year wineries have
had to apply for special licences.
