Rainbow Ski Area will offer cheaper passes and equipment hire for the 2000 ski season -- but only for the next month to improve its cashflow situation.

Special season passes for the 2000 season will go on sale next week, with reductions of up to 66 percent.

Company chairman Grant Horner said this followed marketing trends in the United States and at other New Zealand skifields, which had posted excellent results by making skiing and snowboarding more affordable.

It would also bring money in for the off-season, he said. ``By improving cashflow with greater season ticket sales, we will have more funds to invest in the ski area.''
