An Atawhai fish and chip shop has got the go ahead to operate
from
the Nelson City Council despite opposition from neighbours.
Peter Turner received three submissions from neighbours opposing
his proposal to operate a fish and chip shop on the corner of Dodson
Valley Rd and Atawhai Drive, mainly because of smell and flies, and
the possible effect on their property values.
His application was granted by the council's application
committee
yesterday .
Chairwoman Jo Raine said there was a demand for a fish and chip
shop in the area; it was a commercial site, and the committee had no
justification to turn it down.
