SO - we're off! A week of intense interest, which many men and
women have been preparing for a long time, begins today.
And we're talking about cutting-edge issues - genetics and
cloning, the right of the citizen to act illegally for the greater
good - at Faslane, for instance, and the responsibility of the
citizen to keep the law, however antique, out-of-date or
inappropriate that law is. The case for polygamy. The case for
Palestine. Oh yes - with peace on earth still an aim rather than a
pledge, there's lots to play for this week.
No - I'm not talking about the General Election campaign - I'm
talking about the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
